NHL Betting: Stars vs Flames Game 1 Player Props – 05/03/22

The Calgary Flames and Dallas Stars played three close games this season, and all of them featured six goals or more. That opens the door for plenty of players to have some success as their series opens tonight. This betting guide offers three player props that have some value heading into Game 1 of the series between the Stars and Flames.

Jason Robertson Points (Over 0.5, -125)

The biggest star for Dallas this season has been Jason Robertson, who scored 41 goals this season. He’s the centerpiece of the Stars’ offense and is going to be in the thick of things against Calgary. Robertson has been on a tear going into the postseason, too. Robertson scored five goals and four assists over his final six games, including a goal against Calgary on April 21.

It’s only Robertson’s second full season, but he is on everyone’s radar now. He has seven multi-point games in April alone, and he led the NHL with 11 game-winning goals this season. He absolutely has to be in the middle of everything for the Stars to find any success in this series and is a good bet to tally at least a point. Another decent, but riskier, play is to take him as an anytime goalscorer (+215), but the best value is in him getting at least a point.

Elias Lindholm Shots (Over 2.5, -110)

Elias Lindholm centers Calgary’s high-powered first line and enters the postseason on a career year that saw him pile up 42 goals and 40 assists. He was solid against the Stars this season, netting three assists in three games. He didn’t score a goal against Dallas, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. Lindholm piled up 14 shots against the Stars in those three games, including six in their last meeting.

Lindholm is going to get a ton of ice time on that top line, and he centers the top power-play unit, as well. He’s going to get plenty of chances. None of the three games between these two teams had less than six goals scored, so the action should be heavy in the first-round series between a pair of teams that didn’t make the playoffs a year ago. Expect Lindholm to continue what he did against Dallas all season.

Rasmus Andersson Points (Over 0.5, +115)

Rasmus Andersson piled up a career-high 50 points this season, and 46 of those came via assists. Against the Stars, Andersson had four assists in three games. He plays the most minutes of any skater for Calgary and gets time on the power play. He also had two goals and two assists against the Stars in the 2020 Postseason, when Dallas eliminated Calgary in six games.

This is a good spot for the Flames defenseman to continue a solid season and keep up the recent success he’s had against the stars. Because he’s not really much of a goal scorer, there is some value in his player prop for assists (Over 0.5, +150), as well. The bump up in odds isn’t substantial, which makes betting him to get at least a point the safer and more valuable play.
