NHL Betting: Rangers vs Hurricanes & Capitals vs Islanders – 04/26/22

The New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes battle for the top spot in their division, while the Washington Capitals look to jump into third while welcoming a defeated New York Islanders team.

New York Rangers (-120) vs Carolina Hurricanes (+100)

NYR: 51-22-6, 3.05 GF/GP, 2.46 GA/GP, L10: 7-2-1

CAR: 52-20-8, 3.34 GF/GP, 2.43 GA/GP, L10: 7-3-0

The Rangers and the Hurricanes are in a tight battle for the division title. If the Hurricanes win in regulation, they lock it up this season, but if the Rangers take the game, then things get very interesting. These teams are number one and two in goals against this season. The Hurricanes have the advantage in the season series by already winning two of the three games. But this one is the most important.

Frederik Andersen remains out, so the Hurricanes will either have to rely on their rookie or Antti Raanta to match up against the likely Vezina Trophy winner this season. With the Rangers being more high-flying and effective offensively, it gives them the advantage to even the season series. Take the Rangers and the under (U5.5, +100).

Washington Capitals (-185) vs New York Islanders (+150)

WSH: 44-23-12, 3.37 GF/GP, 2.91 GA/GP, L10: 7-1-2

NYI: 35-34-10, 2.73 GF/GP, 2.82 GA/GP, L10: 3-6-1

Not much is going to cool down the Capitals as they have pulled themselves to within one point of third in their division and are close to getting a much better first-round matchup come playoff time. This will be game three of four in the season series and the first of a home-and-home between the Capitals and the Islanders.

It’s hard to argue with how well the Capitals have been playing, losing only to the Toronto Maple Leafs twice and a desperate Vegas Golden Knights over the past 10 games. Most of their games have been high-scoring as their goaltenders aren’t in the elite group. The Islanders have lost five in a row and have seemingly packed it in for the season. The Capitals shouldn’t have a tough time in this game, while the over (O6, +100) shouldn’t have trouble hitting either.
