NHL Betting: Predators vs Wild & Stars vs Islanders – 4/05/22

In today’s betting guide, the red-hot Minnesota Wild visit the struggling Nashville Predators, while the Dallas Stars and New York Islanders seek a big win.

Nashville Predators (+100) vs Minnesota Wild (-120)

It is very tough to bet against the Wild right now, so that’s not what we’re going to do. They have run through every good team of late, going 9-0-1 in their past 10 games since losing 6-2 to the Predators. That was before the trade deadline and the Wild have powered up even more since then by adding Marc-Andre Fleury to a tandem that already had Cam Talbot who is red hot.

These odds are a lot closer than they should be for the Wild who have not only been dominating but the charge has been led by superstar Kirill Kaprizov who has flown by the team’s season points record and is closely approaching the goals record for the franchise. The Predators have lost three of the past five but Juuse Saros and the team have to wake up defensively sooner or later. Take the Wild and the under (U6, -105) in this game.

Dallas Stars (-140) vs New York Islanders (+115)

This is another one of those games where if it’s close and it could go either way, go with the underdog. There are cases to be made for both teams. The Stars will not want to lose two in a row, especially when the Edmonton Oilers and Vegas Golden Knights continue to win seemingly every night. But on the other hand, the Islanders have won four in a row and three games in a row on the road. It seems as though they’ve found the groove they’ve been missing for a good chunk of the season.

Of the two teams, the Stars are the only realistic option to make the playoffs, so they are playing for more. They’ve had an easy schedule of late and have been playing leapfrog with the Golden Knights for the second wild card spot. They have three games in hand but that cushion could be erased quickly if they fall on hard times at the wrong time of the season. Both teams have been scoring and allowing a few goals recently, and with the over/under set at only 5.5, I think it’s a good bet to say they can hit the over (O5.5, +100), plus it’s more fun to cheer on goals.
