NHL Betting: Maple Leafs vs Stars & Blackhawks vs Bruins – 03/15/22

In what should be two tough matchups, the away teams have the advantage in these ones as the home teams have struggled of late. You can find good value here.

Toronto Maple Leafs (-150) vs Dallas Stars (+125)

Since the Toronto Maple Leafs’ goaltending has been the worst in the league over the last while, they have been relying on their offence to bail them out when they can. With the NHL’s leading goal-scorer suspended for two games from a cross-check to Rasmus Dahlin in their previous game, that high-powered offence will take a hit. I don’t think they’ll be able to outscore their way to victory in this one against a sneaky Dallas Stars team.

There’s great value in going with the Stars here, as they are the underdog and their goaltending is far above the Maple Leafs, especially with Jack Campbell still out and Jake Muzzin sidelined from the blue line. Jake Oettinger and the Stars’ defensive system match up well against Petr Mrazek and the Maple Leafs in that regard. Meanwhile, the offence of the Stars has been much better now that Tyler Seguin has found his game. A player to watch in this one is Jason Robertson, having scored eight goals in the past five games, including two hat tricks.

Chicago Blackhawks (+145) vs Boston Bruins (-175)

The Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins just played their first matchup of the season last week, and the final one comes five days later. The previous game went 4-3 in favour of the Bruins in their barn, but this one comes in Chicago. Being at home brings no advantage for the Blackhawks as they have the same negative record at home and on the road. The Bruins on the other hand have a bit better of a record on the road.

Craig Smith for the Bruins is the player to watch in this one, as he has been able to find the net a lot and with ease over the past five games netting seven goals.

The Blackhawks haven’t been able to string together multiple wins since mid-January and they are coming off a win over the Ottawa Senators. Don’t expect the trend to change as the Bruins will come into Chicago hard and with the incentive to catch the Maple Leafs in the standings.
