NHL Betting: Capitals vs Lightning & Jets vs Red Wings – 4/06/22

In today’s betting guide, the Tampa Bay Lightning visit the Washington Capitals with both having lost two in a row, while the Winnipeg Jets hope to make up ground in the playoff race vs the Detroit Red Wings.

Washington Capitals (+120) vs Tampa Bay Lightning (-145)

The Lightning have racked up a few losing streaks over the past month but have a very favourable schedule the rest of the way starting with the Capitals who continue to struggle and drop games to playoff teams since their win streak ended in mid-March. The Capitals have lost two games in a row by a combined score of 11-2, while the Lightning have done the same but by a score of 11-6 and picking up a point.

The Capitals’ spot in the playoffs is pretty much confirmed as the second wild card spot meaning they’ll likely match up against the Florida Panthers. The Lightning don’t come much easier than the Panthers when they are on their game. This final stretch of games is key to getting back on track and playing consistently. Take the Lightning and over (O6.5, +100).

Winnipeg Jets (-275) vs Detroit Red Wings (+220)

There’s little to no doubt in my mind that the Jets will be able to pull off the win in this one. The Red Wings have played too poorly to be able to string much together including any sort of win streak. The Jets are also in a position where they can’t afford to lose many games for the remainder of the season and the Red Wings come as an easier challenge they will have to take advantage of.

The Jets schedule gets a little easier after a tough couple of games having lost two in a row. The Red Wings played last night and almost threw away the lead to the Boston Bruins late. So this comes on the second night of a back-to-back. Before the win, the Red Wings had lost six in a row and 13 of 15. Dylan Larkin just reached the 30-goal mark for the second time in his career but once again Tyler Bertuzzi can’t travel with the team. The Red Wings are still unable to keep the goals against down, so take the Jets and the over (O6.5, +100).
