Fantasy Corner: Weekend Forward Streamers – April 2 & 3, 2022

As fantasy managers battle it out for playoff spots and seeding, be sure to check out some of the names below for waiver wire pickups who could provide solid streamer options at the forward position for this weekend’s games.

Mason Marchment – Florida Panthers – 20% Rostered

The winger came back down to earth after a stretch of games in January where he was scoring at an unsustainable rate. His roster percentage dropped as a result but he is a great fantasy streamer this weekend because of his exposure to a potent Panthers offense.

He is playing on the third line with Sam Bennett and Sam Reinhart who are well-equipped with the skills to produce offensively. He is exposed to the second power-play unit and has points in his last two games. Marchment is having a quiet breakout season with career highs in goals with 15 and points with 38 so far this season.

Florida has a pair of mouthwatering matchups this weekend with the New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres on the schedule so there is a lot of potential to put up points. He is a cheap way to get exposure to the best offensive team in the NHL.

Joel Eriksson Ek – Minnesota Wild – 50% Rostered

The forward’s four-game point streak came to an end in the loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 31, 2022, but he is still in a good situation to produce. He is available in half the leagues likely because he was demoted to the third line. Despite not playing with the top-end talent on the team, Jordan Greenway and Marcus Foligno still have a knack for the net and their heavy style allows them to spend lots of time in the opponent’s end.

He also returned to his spot on the team’s top power-play unit, which is prime real estate because of the exposure to Kirill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello. He is up to 37 points on the year with 14 coming on the man advantage and is looking for one more goal to give him 20 on the year. Despite the opponents for both this weekend’s games being on the tougher side of the standings, he will have two games to try and get on the scoreboard.

Jesse Puljujarvi – Edmonton Oilers – 26% Rostered

The Finn is seeing his ice time and spot in the lineup fluctuate since returning from injury but is back on the team’s top line with Connor McDavid and Evander Kane. Puljujarvi has three points in his last five games, which doesn’t jump off the page, but he will have a strong opportunity to add to his 33 points on the season when the Oilers take on an Anaheim Ducks team that is very bad.

He is averaging 3.5 shots per game over his last four and isn’t afraid to throw the puck on net and get to the dirty areas to bang pucks in. You can check your free agent pool for any players who may be available who play two games this weekend, but if there aren’t any better options, Puljujarvi is a great one-game streamer as long as he is on McDavid’s line.
