Fantasy Corner: Defense Streamer Options – Week of 4/4/2022

Make sure to check out the names below and see that these defensemen are owned in order to help your fantasy roster’s blue line heading into the final stretch of the season.

Ivan Provorov – Philadelphia Flyers – 57% Rostered

The Flyers’ top blueliner saw his roster percentage decrease over the last few weeks meaning he should be available in more leagues. He is one of the better and more known defensemen that could be available in your free agent pool and is coming off a three-point performance two games ago against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

He still remains the Flyers’ power-play quarterback on the first unit, which gives him some decent offensive exposure despite how bad the team’s power play is. He is a consistent bet to play more than 20 minutes per game and the team should be invested in giving their younger players more run with them already out of the playoff race. The Flyers get some nice matchups with a game against the Anaheim Ducks and two against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Gustav Forsling – Florida Panthers – 18% Rostered

With the extent of Aaron Ekblad’s injury, the Panthers are relying on Mackenzie Weeger and Forsling to man the top defense pair. Considering how much the Florida Panthers score, getting a blueliner on this team increases the odds of getting points. Forsling played over 20 minutes in each of his last six games and has points in three straight games.

He can contribute to shots on goal categories and can provide some blocks as well. He is a safe bet to provide some offense because of the potency of the Panthers’ forward group even though they only play one game in the first four days to start the week.

Alexandre Carrier – Nashville Predators – 3% Rostered

This isn’t a household name on the blue line but considering Carrier is playing alongside Roman Josi on the Predators’ first defense pair, the exposure is there for him to be successful. He has four points in his last three games played and is consistently playing more than 20 minutes a game.

He only has five goals and 25 points on the year, but in deeper leagues, he provides a good plus/minus rating as well as contributions in hits and blocks categories. Although the Predators take on three tougher teams in the Minnesota Wild, Florida Panthers, and Pittsburgh Penguins, they have four total games this week and one comes against the lowly Ottawa Senators.
