NHL Betting: Avalanche vs Hurricanes & Coyotes vs Maple Leafs

If your looking to find some value on betting lines tonight, look no further. It’s an action-packed day with 13 games on the schedule. Here are odds and our predictions for two of the games.

Colorado Avalanche (-115) @ Carolina Hurricanes (-105)

The Colorado Avalanche have faltered a bit as of late, losing three of four and blowing a 3-0 lead to the New Jersey Devils in their last outing. Unlike their stellar home record, the Avalanche aren’t as good on the road with a record of 18-9-2 when comparing it to the Carolina Hurricanes’ home record of 21-4-2.

The Hurricanes are 7-1-1 in their past nine and are 10-0-1 in their past 11 home games. There is great value in betting the Hurricanes here as they are underdogs who are second in the league. This is a matchup of offence vs defence, as the Avalanche are second in the NHL in goals for while the Hurricanes have the best goals against. The over has hit in four of the Avalanche’s last six games, but just one of the past six for the Hurricanes. I recommend going the under for this matchup (U6 -105), but it will be a close one.

The Hurricanes are coming off of a three day rest while the Avalanche have played two games in the past three days. Expect the Hurricanes to be well rested but Colorado come out firing since they completely got outplayed in the second half of their last loss.

Arizona Coyotes (+310) @ Toronto Maple Leafs (-400)

The second of two matchups for the Arizona Coyotes and the Toronto Maple Leafs comes in Toronto this time. The first game went in favour of Arizona 2-1, but this game should be Toronto’s. They are heavy favourites so taking the Maple Leafs money line really isn’t worth it. The best value would come from the Coyotes seeing as they’ve won three in a row and have beaten the Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights recently.

Auston Matthews Toronto Maple Leafs

This should be a high-scoring and highly entertaining game with lots of goals. The Maple Leafs’ goaltenders haven’t been able to keep the puck out of the net, but the team has also been able to outscore their problems in a number of those games. Auston Matthews in particular has been on a scoring tear and has six goals in his past three games, while Nick Schmaltz has entered the history books after putting up 11 points in his last two games for the Coyotes.

Arizona has scored 17 goals in the past two games while Toronto still has an impressive 11. The over is surely to hit (O6.5 -130), so pairing that with the Maple Leafs could bring much better value in betting them.
