NHL Betting: Oilers vs Kings First Round Game 5 – 05/10/22

The first-round matchup between the Edmonton Oilers and the Los Angeles Kings continues back in Edmonton for Game 5 with the series tied at 2-2. Get all the betting tips for the game here covering the moneyline, over/under, and game props.

Edmonton Oilers (-200) vs Los Angeles Kings (+165)

The Oilers were not happy with the effort and outcome of Game 4. They knew the Kings were going to come out very strong and have a quick start. The pressure and intensity of the Kings never subsided. While the Oilers had chances throughout the game and even got on rolls at points, it was either broken up by a penalty call or Jonathan Quick shutting the door.

He has been night and day. He won the Kings Games 1 and 4 but the Oilers got to him in the middle two games. The series shifts back to Edmonton in a best of three, but the Oilers once again have the advantage of home ice where they have been lights out since Jay Woodcroft took over. With the new addition of Carl Grundstrom to the Kings’ second line after consecutive losses, that line didn’t miss a beat and provided the team with three even-strength goals, led by the newest member with two goals and three points. Despite Quick and the second line of the Kings, the Oilers will be coming out with the intensity LA showed in Game 4, so take the Oilers to bounce back in Game 5.

Over/Under

This series has seen the over hit in two of the four games but we are sporting a 3/4 record in betting correctly. With the over set high once again, it would be the best course of action to take the under (U6.5, -115). Quick shouldn’t break down as he did in Games 2 and 3, but the Oilers will be on him early and often so a few goals will likely sneak through.

The Oilers will also be stingier in their own end and try to limit turnovers. That led to goals and will have been talked about in the dressing room. While the only line that has done anything for the Kings is the second, expect a goal or two from them and nothing coming from any other line.

Game Props

The majority of the teams in the 2022 Playoffs who have scored the first goal have won the game. The Oilers are going to come out much harder than the Kings after a hard defeat and being shut out. That being said, take them to score the first goal of the game and to win the first (-175) and second periods (-181). Since the start of Game 5 should be a push by the Oilers vs. Quick, take the correct score at the 10-minute mark of the first to be 1-0 Oilers (+280).
