NHL Betting: Kings vs Oilers First Round Game 6 – 05/12/22

The first-round matchup between the Los Angeles Kings and the Edmonton Oilers continues back in LA for Game 6 with the Kings now leading 3-2. Get all the betting tips for the game here covering the moneyline, over/under, and game props.

Los Angeles Kings (+125) vs Edmonton Oilers (-150)

The Oilers are not going to lose three games in a row in this series, especially after their second straight slow start and comeback bit in the third period in Game 5. The Kings have outworked the Oilers to win the previous two games, while Jonathan Quick has held them in each win.

The stars for the Oilers have continued to show up to play, but the depth has now struggled to produce offensively since the two outbursts. Meanwhile, the Kings’ top line finally showed up in the series. That’s not something the Oilers want to see continue, as the series was tied without any production from the Kings’ first line. Special teams are the Oilers’ friends and will have to use that to add a couple of goals. Four goals don’t seem like enough to win in this series as Connor McDavid put it. Take the Oilers to win and force Game 7.

Over/Under

There have been a ton of goals scored in this series since the defence on both sides isn’t the best. The Oilers will now be without Darnell Nurse for Game 6 after a one-game suspension, evening the odds as the Kings have been without their top defenceman Drew Doughty this series.

The Oilers got to Quick late in Game 5, which should give them confidence after being shut out in Game 4 but will have to come out strong and not wait until the third to score goals and make a comeback. The Kings have found ways to drive the net and beat Mike Smith since his shutout in Game 2. This should shape up to be a high-scoring game needing a lot of goals to win. Take the over (O6.5, -105).

Game Props

Whichever team has scored first in each game has held on and won that game. This one should be the same way. The Oilers have had a problem with allowing the first goal of the game all season and playing from behind. The approach changes when playing from behind compared to playing with the lead. They have come back in a lot of games but tend to run away with the score when they can take the early lead. Take the team that scores first to win (-238) as a good bet to add in a same-game parlay.

Take the over in the second period (O2, -125) as that has been the Oilers’ best period, while the Kings have also gotten on the board in the middle frame more often than not. Also, consider the Oilers as the first team to score three goals in Game 6 (-104) and there to be an empty-net goal (+175) since the goaltender is always pulled for much longer during the playoffs.
