NHL Betting: Bruins vs Hurricanes First Round Game 7 – 05/14/2022

After getting dominated by the Carolina Hurricanes through the regular season and first two games of this first-round series, the Boston Bruins have a shot to advance. These teams enter Game 7 on Saturday, in a series where the home team has won every game. This betting guide will give some of the best plays for Saturday’s series decider.

Boston Bruins (+110) vs Carolina Hurricanes (-135)

Series Tied 3-3

The Hurricanes won the Metropolitan Division this season and had their sights set much higher than just being content to make the playoffs. Enter the Bruins. This series has been a little more difficult than they thought it was going to be after the first two games, but now they return home. Getting last change for home-ice advantage in a Game 7 is invaluable, especially against a team that relies so much on a couple of players for scoring.

Carolina’s moneyline (-135) is the play here once again. They’ve been too good at home, and, just like the Canes struggled in Boston, the Bruins have had a tough time scoring in Carolina. It’s been tough for the likes of Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak to get going in Boston’s road games in this series. This looks like another spot for the home team to hold serve, and Carolina advances.

Over/Under: Over 6, +100

There have been a lot of goals scored in this series. The teams have totaled 39 goals throughout the first six games, and the winning team in each game has scored at least four. By itself, Carolina has scored five goals in each of the three games in their home rink, and that trend is likely to continue on Saturday. Of the three regular-season games, only one of them was under six goals.

Even though Game 7s tend to be lower scoring, the over has to be the play once again. Every game of this series has had at least six goals, so getting even money (+100) on the over is a play that has some value. There likely won’t be as many power plays in Game 7, but there’s also the chance for more empty netters. It’s tough to ignore the over when they’ve hit the number in every game.

Prop: Third-Period Goals, Over 2.5 (+140)

The third period is where the action has been all series between these two teams. Out of the 39 goals scored in the six games, 19 of them have been scored over the final 20 minutes. Game 7s tend to be played a little tighter early, but this one should open up late. Game 6 was a perfect example, as five of the game’s seven goals were scored in the final stanza.

Looking at the number of goals that have been scored in the third period across the series, this is a great number for at least three goals to be scored in the final period once again. These teams have cleared that number in four of the six games, including the last three. This prop bet has some value at +140, since these teams have shown a penchant for late heroics.
