MLB Betting: Yankees vs Reds & Nationals vs Braves – 07/14/22

In today’s MLB betting guide, the New York Yankees look to get back on track against the Cincinnati Reds, while the Atlanta Braves look to roll over the struggling Washington Nationals.

New York Yankees (-200) vs Cincinnati Reds (+165)

The Yankees have faltered a bit lately but have a perfect opponent to get back on track against. The Yankees have won just five of their last 10, while the Reds have actually won six of theirs. Unfortunately for the Reds, the Yankees are 35-10 at home where the series wraps up after the teams have split the first two games. Both games have ended in a one-run differential, so the run line is risky, especially with the way the Reds have been hitting the ball.

Though NestorCortes is starting for the Yankees, the Reds get Luis Castillo who has been very good himself. The bats of the Yankees haven’t been as good as they can be, which only helps Castillo who has given up two earned runs in his past three starts (20 innings). Cortes had a start to forget last outing and hasn’t played the greatest, which makes me think despite 29 more wins than the Reds and an amazing home record, this will be an upset. Take the Reds to win this one and the series as well as the under (U8, -105).

Washington Nationals (+180) vs Atlanta Braves (-225)

There is no way I can see an upset in this game as the pitching matchup is just too one-sided. Kyle Wright is the starter for the Braves with great season stats, while the Nationals are throwing Anibal Sanchez out on the mound. Sanchez hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since 2020 when he had a 6.62 ERA (earned run average) and 1.66 WHIP (walks+hits per inning pitched).

Wright has given up four earned runs in his past three starts (18 innings), so he is trending up after a few tougher outings. The batting of the Braves will definitely help his cause and the Nationals will be fighting themselves. Washington is 1-9 in the past 10 games and has lost six in a row, while the Braves are 7-3 in their last 10. The Nationals have been very bad in their own ballpark, and the Braves are above average on the road. It seems like an easy choice here for the Braves and over (O9, -120).
