MLB Betting: Yankees vs Blue Jays & Rays vs Orioles – 06/19/2022

There are a couple of big games in the American League East on Sunday. The New York Yankees try for a three-game sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Tampa Bay Rays take on the Baltimore Orioles. This betting guide offers some of the top value plays from this pair of games based on recent trends between the teams.

New York Yankees (-135) vs Toronto Blue Jays (+110)

Luis Severino looks like he has things figured out. The New York starter has given up a total of just six runs over his last five starts, and the Yankees have won three of those. He’s pitched twice against the Blue Jays this season, and New York won both of those, as well. The Yankees won the first two games of this series by a combined total of 16-3, and have now won nine straight. Take the Yankees to complete the sweep in this one (-135).

These teams have already played 11 games against each other this season, and it’s been a mixed bag on the total. The under has gone 6-5, thanks to Saturday’s 4-0 victory for New York. The under has also hit in Severino’s last four starts, and the Blue Jays have scored more than three runs just twice in the 11 meetings this season. Take the under (U9, -115).

Tampa Bay Rays (-140) vs Baltimore Orioles (+115)

Tampa Bay has lost six of the eight games of this road trip, which wraps up today in Baltimore. They took Saturday’s game 7-6 and should be in good shape on Sunday. Rays starter Corey Kluber has done well against the Orioles in his career, going 5-1 with a 3.07 ERA and 79 strikeouts in 73.1 innings pitched. Baltimore starter Jordan Lyles has been brutal, with an 8.22 ERA and 1.89 WHIP (walks+hits per inning pitched) over his last three starts. Take the Rays (-140), and even consider the run line (-1.5, +115).

This pitching matchup makes picking the total a little tricky, but it’s likely leaning to be low scoring. The under has gone 7-3 in Kluber’s last 10 starts, but one of those that went over was his May 22 start against Baltimore. The under has also hit in Tampa’s last four games against a right-handed starter and is 5-3 in the last eight meetings between these teams. Lean towards the under again here (U8.5, -115).
