MLB Betting: Yankees vs Blue Jays & Cardinals vs Red Sox – 06/17/22

In today’s MLB betting guide, the Toronto Blue Jays look to bounce back from a tough loss against the Baltimore Orioles when they take on the powerhouse New York Yankees. Meanwhile, the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals go head-to-head in a clash of offensive dynamos.

New York Yankees (-115) vs Toronto Blue Jays (-105)

The Blue Jays can close some distance between themselves and the Yankees with a win today. They sit 10 games back of the red-hot Yankees and are 6-4 in their last 10 games. Their loss to the Orioles was considered an embarrassment by Kevin Gausman, and the team can’t afford to stack up losses when the Yankees are demolishing the division. Anthony Rizzo tied the game against the Tampa Bay Rays and then hit a walk-off home run to end the game, sending the ball 392 feet for the Yankees’ 14th consecutive home win.

Ross Stripling will take the mound against the most-potent batting lineups in the league. He’s 3-1 on the year with 35 strikeouts and opponents to no runs and one hit in his last two games. He’ll need to have that kind of outing against the Yankees if the Blue Jays hope to keep pace with their divisional rivals. Jordan Montgomery will start for the Yankees and holds a 2.70 ERA (Earned-Run Average), and he gave up six hits and two runs against Toronto in his last meeting. Toronto’s offense has been consistent this year, but they’re in a battle against the Yankees. Take New York and go with the over (O9.5, -105).

St. Louis Cardinals (-105) vs Boston Red Sox (-115)

The Cardinals and Red Sox meet for the first time this season as they enter a three-game series. Both clubs enter tonight’s contest having won their most-recent series, with the Cardinals taking three of four against the Pittsburgh Pirates while the Red Sox crushed the Oakland Athletics. Boston is slightly above .500 as they attempt to remain afloat in a competitive AL East division, and the Cardinals currently reign supreme in the NL Central.

St. Louis is off to a tremendous start, batting a team average of .254 while scoring 4.78 runs per game. They’ve looked unstoppable at the plate, and defensively they’re allowing 3.79 runs, good for sixth best in the league. They’re aggressive with base running while getting quality starts from their pitching rotation. Not to be outdone, the Red Sox are just as spectacular offensively and have stepped up tremendously on the defensive side of the game. Tonight’s contest will be heavily contested, with each team’s bullpen facing a surplus of threats. We’re leaning with the Cardinals to continue their dominance and go with the under (U9.5, -115).
