MLB Betting: Twins vs Rangers & Angels vs Orioles – 07/09/2022

There are a couple of good games for bettors that include a pair of teams traveling across the country. The Minnesota Twins head all the way south to take on the Texas Rangers, and the Los Angeles Angels head all the way east to take on the Baltimore Orioles. This betting guide will help with some of the best value plays from those two games.

Minnesota Twins (+100) vs Texas Rangers (-120)

Minnesota might as well move in down in Texas, having won seven of the last eight meetings between the teams in Arlington. However, the Rangers managed to win the first game of the season between the teams on Friday. Martin Perez takes the hill for Texas, and he’s been solid all season with a 2.34 ERA. He’s been better at home, posting a 2.14 ERA and 1.10 WHIP (walks+hits per innings pitched) in 46.1 innings pitched. Lean towards Texas (-120) again with Perez on the mound.

The total has gone under in four of the last five games in the series, and Twins starter Devin Smeltzer hasn’t been knocked around too much this season. He boasts an ERA of 3.04 over his 10 starts, and has allowed just four earned runs over his last 18 innings pitched. The total has gone under in each of Smeltzer’s last three starts, and Perez could easily keep runs off the board. There’s some good value in playing the under (U8, +100) in this one.

Los Angeles Angels (-120) vs Baltimore Orioles (+100)

The Angels have lost six of their last seven games, and have been struggling to score over that stretch. They’ve managed more than two runs just twice over those seven games. Baltimore has been sizzling, winning six straight, including the first two of this series. Los Angeles is 1-6 in the last seven meetings between these teams, and have lost four in a row in Baltimore. The Angels also haven’t won a Patrick Sandoval start since May 22. Lean towards the Orioles here (+100) at even money.

The Angels’ recent offensive struggles have led to the under going 3-0-2 across their last five games. The over hasn’t hit for Baltimore in the last three games, and the total has gone over just once in the five meetings between these teams this season. Both Sandoval and Orioles starter Dean Kremer have had ERA’s around 3.00 over their last three starts, so it should be a lower-scoring game. Take the under (U8.5, -115).
