MLB Betting: Twins vs Guardians & White Sox vs Angels – 06/29/2022

There’s a lot going on in the American League on Wednesday. The Minnesota Twins take on the Cleveland Guardians in an AL Central clash, while the White Sox face the Los Angeles Angels. This betting guide offers the best value plays for those two contests based on recent trends between the teams.

Minnesota Twins (-105) vs Cleveland Guardians (-115)

This has been a close series this season. The teams have played nine times, and Minnesota holds a 5-4 edge after winning the second game of yesterday’s doubleheader. Cleveland starter Cal Quantrill has had a decent season but has been sharp at home, going 3-0 with a 3.21 ERA. Twins starter Dylan Bundy has been better recently but has struggled on the road with a 6.82 ERA and 1.54 WHIP (walks+hits per inning pitched). Take the Guardians (-115) in a close one.

The over has hit in each of Quantrill’s last four home starts and has also gone 4-0-1 in Bundy’s last five road starts. However, the under has been the play in three of the last four games between these teams, including both games yesterday. Both teams had to dip into their bullpens yesterday, so any early trouble could get compounded later on. Lean towards the over (O8.5, -120) with both teams battling tired arms of relievers on Wednesday.

Chicago White Sox (+150) vs Los Angeles Angels (-185)

Shohei Ohtani takes the mound for Los Angeles against Chicago’s Michael Kopech in a pretty good pitching matchup. Both sport ERAs under 3.00 for the season, but Ohtani has been on a tear, going 3-0 with a 0.43 ERA and 0.67 WHIP over his last three starts. Kopech has been good this season but has been a little rocky of late, giving up seven runs and 15 baserunners over his last 11.2 innings pitched. Ohtani has been just too good to fade, so take the Angels (-185) again here.

The total has gone under in Ohtani’s last four starts, as well as four of the six games between these teams this season. The White Sox exploded for 11 runs yesterday, but Ohtani is a different animal, and Chicago had gone under the total in their previous five games before that outburst. The Angels have been light on offense recently, too, with the under going 4-1-1 over their last six. Expect another low-scoring affair with these starters and take the under (U7.5, -105).
