MLB Betting: Reds vs Giants & Tigers vs Guardians – 05/29/22

There is lots of action on a nice Sunday for MLB today, which means many teams to bet on. We look at the Cincinnati Reds taking on the San Francisco Giants in the final game of their three-game set as well as the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians going for the series win.

Cincinnati Reds (+125) vs San Francisco Giants (-155)

The Giants have lost both games of this weekend series with the Reds already, so they are due for a win in the finale. Despite the Reds’ four-game win streak, they are still last in the league and should revert to playing like it sooner rather than later.

The Giants are three games above .500 and their bats have been better than average over the past week led by Joc Pederson and Evan Longoria who are each batting close to .400 and have a combined seven home runs. Alex Cobb, the Giants’ projected starter, has had a good run before his last two games, blowing up his stats. He will have a chance to correct that with a game against one of the weaker batting teams in the MLB. Take the Giants in this one and the over (O9, -105) since neither starting pitcher can be trusted lately.

Detroit Tigers (+135) vs Cleveland Guardians (-160)

This weekend series between the Tigers and Guardians is split heading into Sunday with the Guardians holding the upper hand despite playing on the road. Neither has been very good over their past 10 with the Tigers winning four and the Guardians winning three games. Neither had extremely difficult matchups too.

The Guardians have young Triston McKenzie on the mound who has put together a very good season thus far, while he is opposed by Elvin Rodriguez who is looking to make his second start this season and third appearance. He has been lit up in his short amount of innings pitched allowing seven hits, issuing five walks, and eight runs in 7.2 innings. The Cleveland batters should have little trouble getting going against him and the bullpen. Take the Guardians and the over (O8, -120) based on the Tigers’ pitching more than anything.
