MLB is once again packed full with games on a Monday where the Boston Red Sox continue their march to a playoff spot against the Baltimore Orioles, while the Arizona Diamondbacks look to snap a losing streak in a series opener against the Atlanta Braves.
Boston Red Sox (-165) vs Baltimore Orioles (+135)
The Red Sox and Orioles wrap up the final game of a five-game series that the teams have split to this point. The Orioles always seem to give their divisional opponents a hard time, but the Red Sox are the better team and should take the series today.
Neither starter strikes out very many batters while pitching average this season, but the very hot bats of many of the Red Sox players should allow the score to be run up. Overall, they rank in the top-five in the MLB in a few offensive categories, and the Orioles don’t have the personnel to stop that. The Red Sox have scored 27 runs in the four games in this series and it’s shaping up to be another high-scoring game. Take the Red Sox in the finale, hit the over (O10, -110), and consider the run line for better odds (-1.5, +110).
Arizona Diamondbacks (+100) vs Atlanta Braves (-120)
The Braves have the misfortune of facing the Diamondbacks’ ace Zac Gallen in this one but are still favoured. This makes the decision a bit easier for us betting since there is good value in an undefeated starter with great numbers.
Both teams have very similar records, but the Diamondbacks have lost four in a row. With their best pitcher back on the mound, it’s a perfect time to break that streak against an underperforming Braves team. The Braves’ bats haven’t been bad of late, but they will have a big test in front of them if they want to keep pace. Both teams are looking to keep up with the wild card race as they are just outside looking in. For the value and the listed starter for the Diamondbacks, take them while also looking at the under (U8.5, -105).
