MLB Betting: Rays vs Reds & Marlins vs Mets – 07/10/22

In today’s MLB betting guide, the Tampa Bay Rays seek another victory as they visit the Cincinnati Reds, aiming to climb ahead of the Boston Red Sox for first in the division. Meanwhile, the New York Mets aim to take down the Miami Marlins for the third time in four games and dig their claws further into the NL East lead.

Tampa Bay Rays (-148) vs Cincinnati Reds (+126)

After vanquishing the Toronto Blue Jays and winning two of three against the Boston Red Sox, Tampa Bay has looked like a shell of its offensive capabilities against the Reds this month. Their inability to put away the worst team in the NL Central is preventing them from climbing ahead of the Red Sox for second place in the division. Shane Baz has struck out 19 batters in his last three games and holds an ERA (earned run average) of 2.92 on the year.

With a win this afternoon, the Reds can win a fourth consecutive game for the first time in almost two months. The season isn’t completely lost as they remain four wins behind the Pittsburgh Pirates for third in the division, but the hill they must climb is beginning to build upwards. Nick Lodolo takes the mound this afternoon and has allowed eight hits and one run in his last 9.2 innings. He stands a good chance to take down the Rays, so consider putting some change on the Reds to sweep the Rays.

Miami Marlins (+110) vs New York Mets (-230)

After starting the month on a five-game winning streak, the Marlins were devastated by a Mets team that imposed its offensive will. Dropping a 10-0 loss in the opening game of the series, they hope to end it on a high note and leave New York with a split series. Sandy Alcantara is trusted with the task and has been phenomenal in his last two outings, securing wins in both while allowing just two runs on seven hits. He’s 9-3 this season in 17 starts and holds an impressive ERA of 1.82.

Taijuan Walker will start for the Mets and stands to be the best competition against Alcantara. The 29-year-old is 7-2 with an ERA of 2.86 and 61 strikeouts in 78.2 innings. He was remarkable earlier this week, allowing three runs on four hits in six innings while striking out nine batters. A win tonight earns the Mets a third series victory of the month and gives them a healthy lead over the Braves, whom they’ll face next week. Take the Mets to win their third game of four against the Marlins and go with the over (O7.0, -120).
