MLB Betting: Rays vs Red Sox & Twins vs Brewers – 07/12/22

In today’s MLB betting guide, the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox face off in another important matchup in the standings, while the Minnesota Twins play the equally effective Milwaukee Brewers.

Tampa Bay Rays (+100) vs Boston Red Sox (-120)

The Rays are at home in the second game of this series, won Game 1, have a better home record than the Red Sox do on the road, and have played better over the past 10 games, but the oddsmakers have given the Red Sox the advantage. This favours the people who are planning on betting the Rays to win this game.

Rays’ starter Corey Kluber had a great previous outing going six innings, giving up three hits, and no earned runs. Other than his start before that, he has pitched well above average and given the Rays a chance to win every night, even if they can’t score many runs. The Rays may have also caught a break tonight as they will be facing Chris Sale in his first major league start of the season after a forgettable final rehab start. The seven-time All-Star has suffered through injuries late in his career and we likely won’t see him return to that form in his first MLB game this season. Take the Rays as the underdogs and the over (O7.5, -105) since Tampa Bay has started to hit the ball better.

Minnesota Twins (-140) vs Milwaukee Brewers (+115)

Neither the Twins nor the Brewers have played particularly well lately for being strong teams this season. They both have 48 wins but neither has won more than five games in their previous 10. The Brewers are equally as good on the road as the Twins are at home, but Milwaukee is coming into this two-game series having lost two in a row.

The pitching matchup and therefore the game should go in favour of the Twins as Brewers’ starter Jason Alexander hasn’t given them good outings four appearances in a row. He’s allowed 13 runs in 13.2 innings coming across two starts and two relief appearances. Whereas Twins’ starter Josh Winder has allowed just two runs in his past two starts (11 innings), though he doesn’t strike out batters very often. Regardless, the Twins have a potent offense that shouldn’t be halted by Alexander, and they should take Game 1 of this short series while you should consider the over as well (O9, -115).
