MLB Betting: Rays vs Rangers & Twins vs Tigers – 06/01/2022

There’s a lot of good matchups with 16 games scheduled for Wednesday. This betting guide will deliver a few of the top options based on recent trends for a pair of American League tilts. The Minnesota Twins try to earn a four-game split with the Detroit Tigers, while the Texas Rangers try to beat the Tampa Bay Rays for the third day in a row.

Tampa Bay Rays (-130) vs Texas Rangers (+105)

The Rangers have won the first two games of this series against the Rays, but that might come to a screeching halt on Wednesday. Jeffrey Springs takes the hill for Tampa Bay, and he’s been sizzling. He’s allowed a total of five earned runs across his last five starts. He’s going up against Jon Gray, who has struggled with control all season. Expect the Rays to right the ship. Tampa’s money line (-130) is good, and if the Rays can tag Gray early, the run line (-1.5, +135) might be worth a look, too.

Because of Springs’ hot start, the total is sitting at 7.5, and that just seems too low with the way Gray has been pitching. The over has landed in five of Gray’s seven starts this season. Springs should be able to keep the Rays in front, but Texas has been able to get to lefty starters a bit this season. Take the over in this one (O7.5, -110).

Minnesota Twins (-120) vs Detroit Tigers (+100)

The Tigers won two of the first three of this four-game series, but this is a good spot for the Twins to earn the split. Detroit has won three of pitcher Tarik Skubal’s last four starts, but the Twins have shelled Skubal in his young career, including a 7-1 shelling of him a month ago. Twins hurler Bailey Ober was the winner in that last meeting, and he will be on the mound for Minnesota today. Take the Twins to repeat that performance with a decent money line play (-120).

These teams have played nine times this season, with the over hitting five times. However, both pitchers have been on a bit of a good run, and that should continue. Detroit’s been struggling to score runs all year, and the under is 4-0-1 in Skubal’s last five starts. The number is low here, but lean toward the under (U7.5, -110) in what should be somewhat of a pitcher’s duel.
