MLB Betting: Rangers vs Mariners & Cubs vs Mets – 07/14/22

In today’s MLB betting guide, the Seattle Mariners look to make it 11 wins in a row when they visit the Texas Rangers, while the New York Mets look to stay atop their division when they battle the Chicago Cubs.

Texas Rangers (-115) vs Seattle Mariners (-105)

The Rangers are the favourites in this one, which is very interesting and great for us betting the other way. Yes, Martin Perez is starting for them and he’s been their best starter, but he’s also struggled lately big time. He hasn’t cost the team losses, so his record is still a strong 7-2, but he has allowed 13 earned runs in the past 18.2 innings. The Rangers won their previous game against the lowly Oakland Athletics but have to now go up against the Mariners on a 10-game win streak.

Not only has Seattle surged into a playoff spot and dominated lately, but their starter, Marco Gonzales, has given up a max of two earned runs in his past six starts. His strikeouts have been very low, but he’s still delivered effectively and given the Mariners a chance to win. It’s been a great team effort all around, and the Mariners should easily take this game. Consider the over as well (O8.5, -110).

Chicago Cubs (+120) vs New York Mets (-140)

The only reason the Mets aren’t heavily favoured in this matchup against the Cubs is because of who Chicago has on the mound, Keegan Thompson. Regardless, the starter doesn’t go very deep into games and hasn’t been stellar in his appearances as of late either. The Cubs have lost six in a row and won just two of their past 10 games, while their home record is less than ideal.

The Mets have 21 more wins on the season than the Cubs and have won six of their last 10. They just finished a very important series vs the Atlanta Braves and will have a much easier task ahead of them in this weekend series. Carlos Carrasco isn’t the best option the Mets have, but he has picked up his game over his past two starts only allowing three earned runs in 11.1 innings and striking out 13. Take the Mets since their value is so good and the over (O8, +100).
