MLB Betting: Phillies vs Marlins & Rockies vs Guardians – 06/14/22

In today’s MLB betting guide, the Philadelphia Phillies look to build off their walk-off win against the Miami Marlins, while the Cleveland Guardians try to make up more ground as they visit the Colorado Rockies.

Philadelphia Phillies (-155) vs Miami Marlins (+125)

The Phillies came back late in yesterday’s game against the Marlins and walked them off in the bottom of the ninth. Today, the Marlins won’t have their ace Sandy Alcantara on the mound to consistently hold opponents to very little offense. Instead, Trevor Rodger gets the start and he has struggled in front of a defense that hasn’t done him any favours. He has a 4.84 FIP (fielding independent pitching) and a 5.58 ERA (earned run average) while allowing more hits than innings pitched.

The Phillies will get Zach Eflin on the mound to help them continue their hot streak as their batters look to bounce back and put up runs like they normally do. The Phillies’ starter keeps the walks to a minimum and is about average this season. The Phillies are 10-1 over their last 11 games, while the Marlins are just 12-18 on the road. It won’t get easier for them from the first game of this series, so take the Phillies to stay hot and the over (O8.5, -110).

Colorado Rockies (+145) vs Cleveland Guardians (-175)

The Guardians have former Cy Young winner Shane Bieber on the mound for them today against a Rockies team that has won two in a row as these teams kick off their three game series. The Guardians have the clear advantage in pitching as Antonio Senzatela is on the mound for the Rockies. He strikes out batters at a very low rate but is surprisingly very good at keeping opponents from hitting home runs against him in a hitter-friendly ballpark.

Fortunately for the Guardians, Senzatela doesn’t typically go deep into games, but their team hasn’t been able to hit the long ball consistently of late anyways. Senzatela doesn’t get much help from his defense, but he has also allowed 67 hits in 41 innings. He looks like the prime target for the Guardians to get more of their bats going. Take Cleveland and the under (U10.5, -105).
