MLB Betting: Orioles vs Nationals & Rays vs Yankees – 06/22/22

In today’s MLB betting guide, the Baltimore Orioles try to even the series against the Washington Nationals, while the New York Yankees look to continue their incredible season against the struggling Tampa Bay Rays.

Baltimore Orioles (-150) vs Washington Nationals (+125)

The Nationals have won two games in a row but lost eight in a row before that. They took the first game of this series with the Orioles 3-0 but shouldn’t expect to shut anyone out with Patrick Corbin on the mound. Though he has pitched better of late, it still isn’t what you could consider good. Even though his FIP (fielding independent pitching) is much better than his ERA (earned run average), he has still given up 97 hits and 11 home runs in 69.2 innings with a record of 3-9.

Despite winning just five more games on the season, the Orioles look to have the clear advantage in this game, going 6-4 in the previous 10 games and owning a record of 17-17 at home. They have one of their better starters on the mound this evening in Tyler Wells who isn’t great but can get the job done and eat some innings. Over his past four games, he’s given up six runs and pitched six innings in three of those starts. Keep an eye on Orioles’ Ryan Mountcastle and Nationals’ Josh Bell to lead the offenses and help the over hit (O9, -120) while the Orioles split the two-game series like they have been doing recently.

Tampa Bay Rays (+125) vs New York Yankees (-155)

Anytime a strong pitcher of the Yankees is on the mound, it almost becomes impossible to get any advantage on them, and they have a lot of strong pitchers. The team is first in runs scored per game, runs allowed per game, and hits allowed along with OPS (on base+slugging percentage) and home runs. Led by the current AL MVP leader Aaron Judge, their bats haven’t disappointed this season, and after sweeping the Rays in their last series, head into the final game tied 1-1.

The Yankees lead the MLB with 50 wins already and are 8-2 in their last 10 games while the Rays have struggled and fallen out of a wildcard spot with a 3-7 record. Young Rays pitcher Shane Baz has just started two games this season and given up five earned runs on five hits and three walks. The hits against have been impactful and he doesn’t face an easy opponent in this one. On the other side is Jordan Montgomery who has pitched well this season and always given the Yankees a chance to win. His 0.96 WHIP (walks+hits per inning pitched) is strong for pitching over 70 innings. Take the Yankees as it’s very hard to find a logical reason not to bet them and the over (O7, -120).
