MLB Betting: Marlins vs Pirates & Guardians vs White Sox – 07/13/22

In today’s MLB betting guide, the Pittsburgh Pirates take their winning streak into the game against the Miami Marlins, while the Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox match up.

Miami Marlins (-175) vs Pittsburgh Pirates (+145)

Pablo Lopez would be one of the Marlins’ pitchers to be able to change the fortunes of the team as he is one of their stellar pitchers. The Pirates come into this game having won the first two games of the series and four straight while the Marlins have lost two in a row. The pitching matchup is very favourable as Pirates’ JT Brubaker is 2-8 with a 1.47 WHIP (walks+hits per inning pitched) and it will allow the Marlins to get some more offense. He has also allowed three earned runs or more in three consecutive starts and given up a ton of hits.

Lopez has a 2.91 ERA (earned run average) and a very good WHIP while allowing three earned runs over his past two starts. The Pirates’ bats have been hot, so it will be a test for him and the team to contain them right now. Though the Pirates won’t be too confident playing behind Brubaker, the Marlins’ bets have also been very poor lately and they wouldn’t even need very many runs to take the win. As a strong underdog in this one despite the pitching matchup, take the Pirates and the under (U7, -110).

Cleveland Guardians (-105) vs Chicago White Sox (-115)

The Guardians and the White Sox have two of the most inconsistent pitchers starting today as Aaron Civale and Lucas Giolito are on the mound. Neither team has been very good recently either as the White Sox are 4-6 in their past 10 games and the Guardians are 3-7. Cleveland too games one and two of the series before the White Sox won in convincing fashion in the third game.

Now let’s get to the inconsistency of both of the starters. Giolito, despite pitching poorly, is still able to strike out a ton of batters, and as the Guardians’ bats are not hot, the advantage could go to the White Sox. He allowed five earned runs against in his previous outing but had two solid starts prior to that. He is also a better pitcher in general than Civale who had a great previous start but had two forgettable ones before that. The White Sox’s batting has been nothing special, but they have Eloy Jiminez back and playing fairly well along with a couple of batters putting in most of the work. Take the White Sox and the over (O8.5, -120).
