MLB Betting: Marlins vs Nationals & Cubs vs Orioles – 06/07/22

In this MLB betting guide, we are going to look at two below-average teams that face off in the Miami Marlins and Washington Nationals, while the Chicago Cubs look to take advantage of the Baltimore Orioles with their ace on the mound.

Miami Marlins (-190) vs Washington Nationals (+155)

The Marlins are the clear favourites in this game despite having won only one more game on the season than the Nationals. The reason being is the Nationals’ starter on the mound has a record of 1-9 and can’t seem to catch a break and get run support even though his numbers don’t provide much confidence in front of their solid lineup.

The Nationals have won three games in a row but their pitching was the problem as it has been all season. They have the opportunity to tack on some runs against Edward Cabrera, who has pitched just six innings this season in what should be a high-scoring affair. Joan Adon, the Nationals’ starter has given up 32 walks in 52.2 innings. With how the Marlins batters can steal if they get on base, this should allow them to tack on some extra runs. Take the Marlins as there hasn’t been any sign that Adon will turn the corner while also betting the over (O8.5, -110).

Chicago Cubs (-110) vs Baltimore Orioles (-110)

The Cubs and the Orioles is a pick’em but the pitching matchup suggests differently. The Cubs have Keegan Thompson on the mound with his sub-2.00 ERA, while Kyle Bradish has given up the long ball in every game he has started this season and has a 6.82 ERA to go along with it.

If the Cubs batters who have been hot can jump on Bradish early, the Orioles will be forced to go to their bullpen and the Cubs can continue to add on runs. The Orioles offense has been average and is led by Rougned Odor who has picked up his game of late, but they will need to be above average if they want to get to Thompson. The thing to watch for is that Thompson is still building up his innings count and hasn’t pitched more than 5.1 innings this season despite solid starts. Once he’s out of the game, it bodes better for the Orioles to get a few runs. Take the Cubs and the over (O8.5, -120).
