MLB Betting: Giants vs Phillies & Padres vs Cardinals – 05/31/2022

There’s a full slate of games in Major League Baseball on Tuesday, and that means plenty of options for bettors. This betting guide will offer some insight on the trends going on with a couple of National League games that have some good value plays.

San Francisco Giants (+110) vs Philadelphia Phillies (-135)

The Giants took the opener of this series, winning in 10 innings on Monday. These two teams are very close, but the Phillies are reeling. They’ve lost four straight and eight of their last 10. Jakob Junis gets the start for San Francisco and has been solid, and the Giants have won seven of the last nine meetings. It’s hard to trust Philly right now. The Giants money line (+110) has great value against a team that’s struggling and looks like the bet play here.

Junis has been sharp on the road, sporting a 1.69 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in his pair of road starts. However, Ranger Suarez is on the mound for Philadelphia, and that means another blowup could be coming. In his last three starts, Suarez has allowed 11 runs in 14.3 innings pitched with a WHIP of 1.60. He has stunk at home, too, with an ERA of 5.48 and a WHIP of 1.69. The over has hit in four of Suarez’s last five starts, and the Giants love knocking around lefties. Take the over (O9.5, -110) at a decent price.

San Diego Padres (+110) vs St. Louis Cardinals (-135)

Adam Wainwright is on the mound for the Cardinals, and he’s been great the last month. St. Louis has won four of his five starts in May, with his only loss coming against the Milwaukee Brewers on May 26. The Cardinals have won seven of their last 10, including Monday’s series opener. Wainwright should make the difference here, making the St. Louis money line (-135) a solid play.

The Padres haven’t hit an over in their last seven games, and the under has hit in Wainwright’s last two starts. Blake Snell is heading into just his fourth start of the season after a groin injury but has looked better with each start. With Wainwright pitching well and Snell coming back into form, the under (U8, -105) looks like a decent value play here.
