MLB Betting: Giants vs Marlins & Diamondbacks vs Pirates – 06/04/2022

A great slate of National League games is on tap Saturday, featuring eight games. The Arizona Diamondbacks look to continue their road success against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The San Francisco Giants and Miami Marlins play a pivotal third game of their series after splitting the first two. This betting guide gives some insight into the best value plays from that pair of NL contests.

San Francisco Giants (-110) vs Miami Marlins (-110)

Pablo Lopez has been a decent starter for the Marlins, but Miami has lost five of his last six starts. On the other side, Giants starter Logan Webb has been sharp this season, and San Fran has won six of his last seven starts. He’s pitched six innings or more in five of those. With 15 runs on Friday, the Giants dug into the Miami bullpen, too. Take the Giants’ money line (-110).

These teams combined for 21 runs on Friday, and that was after Miami shut the Giants out the game before. These pitchers shouldn’t let things get too out of control on Saturday, but this is a low number on the total, and the bullpens have been rough. There’s some value in the over in this one, but it should be close. Lean towards the over (O7, +100) in this one.

Arizona Diamondbacks (+105) vs Pittsburgh Pirates (-125)

Roasny Contreras takes the mound for the Pirates, and he was really good in his first two starts of the season – allowing just two runs in 10 innings across both those starts. The problem? The Pirates lost both of those games because of bad offense. They’ll get some runners against Arizona starter Zach Davies, who has struggled lately, and against the D’Backs his entire career. This game might be a coin flip, but back the Pirates money line (-125) with the better pitcher.

These are two of the lowest-scoring teams in the NL this season. However, the over has landed in three of Pittsburgh’s last four, and Arizona has scored at least six runs in three of its last four games. Davies’ ERA is north of 5.00 in 18 career starts against the Pirates, and he has stunk on the road this year, too. Take the over in this one (O8.5, -110).
