MLB Betting: Dodgers vs White Sox & Tigers vs Pirates – 06/07/2022

With a whopping 16 games on Tuesday, there’s plenty of betting action to go around, including a pair of interleague games. The struggling Detroit Tigers take on the surging Pittsburgh Pirates, while the Los Angeles Dodgers head to the south side to take on the Chicago White Sox. This betting guide will offer some insight into the best value plays for both contests.

Los Angeles Dodgers (-125) vs Chicago White Sox (+105)

Chicago starter Michael Kopech has been great at home but has yet to pick up a win. The Dodgers actually have a better record on the road than at home this season, and starter Mitch White has been way better on the road this season. Kopech has also been very up and down in his last three starts. That gives a little bit of an edge to the Dodgers. Take the Dodgers (-125) to get back on track. This is a good price against a mediocre Chicago team.

The over has hit in all three of White’s starts this season and in six of Chicago’s last seven games. Kopech has been rocky lately, too. He had seven shutout innings against the Yankees on May 22 but gave up a combined eight runs in nine innings in the starts before and after that gem in New York. The over (O8.5, -105) looks like the best play here.

Detroit Tigers (-125) vs Pittsburgh Pirates (+105)

Detroit starter Tarik Skubal has been downright awesome lately. The Tigers have won four of his last five starts, and he’s only given up a total of three earned runs during that stretch – all in a 4-3 win against Cleveland on May 26. Pittsburgh starter Jose Quintana has been equally stingy, allowing just four runs over his last five starts combined. The Tigers have struggled on the road, but Skubal has been too good lately to ignore. Lean towards Detroit (-125) in this one.

Runs have been tough to come by against both of these starters, but the total for this game is very low. However, the problem for both teams is that sooner or later, the relievers are going to come in. The bullpen has let Quintana down in his last three starts and has been shaky even during this recent string of success by the Pirates. Skubal’s been stung by the relievers behind him, too. Lean towards the over (O7, -115), but maybe stay away from the total in this one.
