MLB Betting: Diamondbacks vs Giants & Padres vs Rockies – 07/12/2022

It’s a big day in the National League West on Tuesday, with a pair of pretty good games for bettors. The Arizona Diamondbacks take on the San Francisco Giants, and the San Diego Padres go up against the Colorado Rockies. This betting guide will give insight into the best value plays for both of those NL West contests based on recent trends between the teams.

Arizona Diamondbacks (+180) vs San Francisco Giants (-225)

It hasn’t been a good season for Arizona’s Dallas Keuchel. In his three starts with the team since getting released by the Chicago White Sox, Keuchel is 0-3 with an 8.23 ERA and 1.83 WHIP (walks+hits per inning pitched). His ERA on the road this season is a staggering 11.81. Logan Webb has had no such troubles. The Giants starter has an ERA of 1.80 and a WHIP of 0.90 over his last three starts. This pitching matchup looks lopsided. Take the Giants’ run line (-1.5, -105) in this one.

The over has hit in four of Keuchel’s last five starts, with at least one team hitting double digits in three of those contests. The total has also gone over in three of the last four meetings between these teams. The over also hit in two of the three games of the most recent series last week. Keuchel is just too erratic right now to play any kind of under, so take the over (O8, -105) in this spot.

San Diego Padres (-140) vs Colorado Rockies (+115)

After dropping the first two games of the season series, the Rockies have won five in a row against the Padres. Colorado swept San Diego in the most recent three-game set, which were all at Coors Field. The Rockies play hosts again, and they have won three of their last four. The Padres are starting Mike Clevinger, who gave up five hits in two innings against the Rockies in a relief appearance on June 17. Take the Rockies (+115) in this one.

The over has hit in four of Clevinger’s last five appearances, and the over has gone 5-2-1 in Colorado starter Austin Gomber’s last eight. However, the under has landed in five of the last six games in Colorado, including the last two. This is a typical high total for Coors Field, but these teams have been ducking under it. Take the under (U11.5, -115) here once again.
