MLB Betting: Cardinals vs Cubs & Guardians vs Red Sox – 06/25/22

In today’s MLB betting guide, the St. Louis Cardinals look to bounce back in a big way against the Chicago Cubs, while the Boston Red Sox try to extend their win streak on the road against the Cleveland Guardians.

St. Louis Cardinals (-190) vs Chicago Cubs (+155)

The Cardinals will be looking to rebound after losing the series opener to the Cubs who have no business shutting any team down this season. Today will be a different story with Adrian Sampson making his first start of the season. Despite pitching well in his two appearances this season, his track record in his career suggests he’s in line to get lit up as his FIP (fielding independent pitching) has always been well above average. The Cubs are still only 4-6 in their past 10 and have just 27 wins on the season.

For a team battling for first in their division with the Milwaukee Brewers, the Cardinals will come out with a much better performance tonight as they still own the sixth-best offense in the MLB this season and a number of big bats, including Paul Goldschmidt. The Cubs have scored with a team effort of late, but it will be difficult for them to continue that as Cardinals’ starter Miles Mikolas has allowed just eight hits and four earned runs over his past 23 innings. The Cardinals are in line for a strong bounce-back performance, so place your money on them and the over (O9, -105).

Cleveland Guardians (-160) vs Boston Red Sox (+135)

The Guardians have been too good to lose a couple of games in a row, even if it is to the Red Sox who have been equally as good. The Guardians have their ace, Shane Bieber, on the mound, which will help their cause today and will allow the bullpen some rest. The issue for Bieber is that he’s pitched below average the past two starts and has given up 16 hits and five earned runs over the past 13 innings. The Guardians have now lost two in a row but are still 7-3 in their past 10 games and 16-11 at home.

The Red Sox have now won five in a row after the series-opening win against the Guardians. They are solid on the road at 20-15 and overall have very good batting from a team that is very hot and led by Rafael Devers. The Red Sox have rookie, John Winckowski, on the mound making his fourth career start. Up to this point, he’s only had one bad start, and that was in his first game. Since then, he has raised his pitch count and gone deeper into games while pitching strong in each of his past two starts. It’s not an ideal pitching matchup for the Red Sox, but they are great underdogs in this one as the teams should also hit the over (O8.5, -110).
