MLB Betting: Cardinals vs Braves & Rockies vs Dodgers – 07/04/2022

There’s plenty of Major League Baseball action on Monday, and a number of the late games have plenty of value. The Atlanta Braves host the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Colorado Rockies face the Los Angeles Dodgers. This betting guide will give some insight into the best plays of those two games.

St. Louis Cardinals (+140) and Atlanta Braves (-165)

Braves starter Kyle Wright looks to pick up his 10th win of the campaign as these teams face each other for the first time this season. Atlanta took eight of 10 in last year’s season series. Wright has been a bit up and down, but Atlanta has won five of his last six starts. The Cardinals start Dakota Hudson, who has a 6.28 ERA and 1.81 WHIP (walks+hits per inning pitched). Take the Braves here (-165).

Both of these teams have offense ranked in the top 10, and the over has hit 14 of the last 19 times these teams have played each other. However, the Cardinals have failed to score three runs in three of the last four games, and the total has gone under in four of St. Louis’ last five. The Braves haven’t been as good against righties lately, with the total going under in seven of their last 10 games against a right-handed starter. Lean towards the under (U9.5, -115) in this one.

Colorado Rockies (+230) vs Los Angeles Dodgers (-300)

Dodgers starter Julio Urias looks to win his fourth straight start, and he has a 2.08 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in during the streak. However, he has struggled against the Rockies in his career, sporting a 5.56 ERA in his 16 appearances. The Rockies have also won four of the six meetings this season – all at Coors Field. Colorado has also picked things up recently, going 9-2 in its last 11 against the National League West. The Rockies should be in the thick of it, and their run line looks like it has some value here (-2.5, -125).

The total has gone under in nine of the last 14 meetings between these teams and in each of their last five meetings in Los Angeles. Urias has been sharp recently, and Colorado starter Kyle Freeland has been great on the road – posting a 2.91 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 34 innings pitched on the road. He also won his last start against the Dodgers back on June 28. Take the under (U8.5, -110) to hit again in this one.
