MLB Betting; Blue Jays vs White Sox & Tigers vs Red Sox – 06/21/2022

Every Major League Baseball team is in action with a packed slate of games on Tuesday. A couple of interesting American League matchups pit AL East teams against AL Central squads. This betting guide will give insight into some of the best value plays for that pair of games based on recent trends.

Toronto Blue Jays (-135) vs Chicago White Sox (+110)

Toronto’s Kevin Gausman and Chicago’s Dylan Cease have both been fantastic starters this season. Cease sports an ERA of 2.91 and the White Sox have won three of his last four starts. He has 21 strikeouts over 14.1 innings pitched in his last three starts. Gausman has an ERA of 3.21 this season, but his last three starts have been brutal. He’s 0-3 over that span with a 6.75 ERA and 2.25 WHIP (walks+hits per inning pitched). Take Chicago for the minor upset here (+110).

Because of how solid Gausman and Cease have been this season, this could be a very low-scoring contest. The over has hit in four of Gausman’s last five starts, but the Blue Jays scored at least six runs in all of those games. That might not happen with Cease on the mound. Cease hasn’t given up an earned run in his last four starts and the under has hit in two of his last three. Take the under here (U9, -120).

Detroit Tigers (+155) vs Boston Red Sox (-190)

Detroit starter Beau Brieske has been up and down this season, but he’s currently up. He’s 1-1 in his last three starts with a sparkling 0.96 ERA and 0.86 WHIP. Boston starter Rich Hill has been good in his last three starts, as well. He’s managed 15 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched with an ERA of 3.38 and a WHIP of 1.06. The Tigers are 0-4 in Brieske’s last four road starts, and Boston has won 11 of the last 15 meetings, including Monday’s series opener. Take the Red Sox here (-190).

Both of these starters have been better as of late. The over hasn’t hit in Hill’s last five starts, and the total has gone under in four of Brieske’s last five starts. The under has also hit in six of the last seven meetings between these two teams. The total is a bit high for Tuesday’s contest, and there’s some value in playing the under (U9, +100) in this one.
