MLB Betting: Astros vs Rangers & White Sox vs Tigers – 06/14/2022

With a full slate of games on Tuesday, there are some vital divisional matchups going on in the American League. The Houston Astros take on the Texas Rangers in an AL West clash, while the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers clash in the AL Central. This betting guide delivers some of the best value plays for both games based on recent trends between the teams.

Houston Astros (-125) vs Texas Rangers (+105)

Houston starter Jose Urquidy smoked Texas to the tune of 10 strikeouts over 6.2 innings in a 5-2 win on May 22. The Rangers have dropped five of starter Dane Dunning’s last six starts, and Dunning has struggled against the Astros in his career, sporting a 5.40 ERA in his three starts against them. Houston has won the last five meetings at the Rangers, and six of the last eight meetings overall. Take the Astros (-125) again in this one.

The last nine games between these teams have gone under the total, and they’ve scored more than six runs against each other just four times this season. The under has also hit in the last five meetings in Texas and is 12-3-3 in the last 18 contests between these two clubs. There’s value in the under (U8.5, +100) here again, so lean towards another low total.

Chicago White Sox (-190) vs Detroit Tigers (+155)

Dylan Cease has been rocking and rolling for the White Sox lately, as he hasn’t given up an earned run in his last three starts. The problem in his last outing was the six unearned runs his team’s gaffes led to against the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 9. After a flurry of moves yesterday, the Tigers are starting Drew Hutchinson, who is in his second stint with the team this year. Take Cease and the White Sox (-190) to win this one, and the run line (-1.5, -110) should be considered, too.

One thing about the White Sox is that their games have been filled with offense lately. The over has landed in their last five overall, with a minimum of 11 runs getting scored over that stretch. The over has also hit in three of the four meetings between these clubs this season. As great as Cease has been, this is a pretty low total, and the White Sox could run away with this one. Take the over (O7.5, -110) in this one.
