MLB Betting: Astros vs Angels & Tigers vs Royals – 07/12/2022

Every Major League team is playing on Tuesday, and there are a couple of divisional matchups with good value for bettors. The Los Angeles Angels are hosting the Houston Astros in an American League West tilt, while the Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals face off in an AL Central clash. This betting guide will give the best value plays from those two games.

Houston Astros (-125) vs Los Angeles Angels (+105)

The Astros have won seven of the last 10 meetings against the Angels this season, and Houston has also won eight of its last 10 overall. The Angels are going in the opposite direction, having lost eight of their last 10 including three in a row. Los Angeles just went 1-7 over a long road trip, and the first three of those losses were all to the Astros. Take Houston (-125) here once again.

The total went over twice in the last three-game series between these teams, but the under has hit in four of the last five meetings in Los Angeles. The under has also hit in each of L.A. starter Noah Syndergaard’s last four starts at home – where he has a 2.62 ERA and 0.99 WHIP (walks+hits per inning pitched) this season. Lean towards the under (U8.5, -115) here again.

Detroit Tigers (+100) vs Kansas City Royals (-120)

Detroit starter Beau Brieske was great his last time out, giving up just two hits and a walk over 6.1 scoreless innings in a 2-1 win over the Chicago White Sox on July 7. He’s actually been pretty good at home (3.06 ERA and 1.16 WHIP) this season, too. Things haven’t been as good for Royals starter Kris Bubic at home, where he is 0-4 with a 7.77 ERA and 2.01 WHIP. Take the Tigers (+100) with a good price in this one.

The total has gone under in five of the six meetings between these teams this season. The under has also hit in six of Brieske’s last seven starts overall, as well as four of Bubic’s last five starts. These aren’t the best starters, but these offenses are both in the bottom five of the Major Leagues in runs per nine innings. Take the under here (U9, -120) in this contest.
