MLB Betting: Astros vs Angels & Rockies vs Diamondbacks – 07/03/22

In today’s MLB betting guide, the Houston Astros look to continue rolling over the Los Angeles Angels, while the Colorado Rockies host the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Houston Astros (-225) vs Los Angeles Angels (+180)

The odds heavily favour the Astros for a reason. Framber Valdez, their starter, is coming off of an eight shutout inning performance, the team is dominant all around, and they have won five in a row. They are also 8-2 in their last 10 and are 23-11 at home while the Angels have struggled in each of those regards. They have lost two in a row, both to the Astros, are 4-6 in their previous 10 games, and are four games under .500 on the road.

Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani’s seasons haven’t been enough to help pull the Angels out of despair once again as they are now six games under .500 on the season and the Astros sit at 50 wins. Though the Angels’ Jose Suarez’s numbers on the season may not be great, he has allowed just one run in his past two starts (10.1 innings) but doesn’t go very deep into games. It may spell trouble for him in this matchup as the last time he pitched against the Astros this season they got him off the mound after 4.1 innings. Take the Astros and consider the runline (-1.5, -105) while jumping on the under (U8, -110).

Colorado Rockies (-105) vs Arizona Diamondbacks (-115)

The Rockies and Diamondbacks should give us a great pitching matchup on paper after Chad Kuhl pitched a three-hit complete game in his last outing and Zac Gallen is the best pitcher on the Diamondbacks. But he hasn’t really shown that as of late. Two of his past four games he has been lit up for five-plus runs but pitched extremely well in his previous matchup against the Rockies in May.

Neither team has played above average as of late, but the Diamondbacks have been a little worse and have the disadvantage of being the road team with a worse road record. Neither of the Rockies or the Diamondbacks has been impressive offensively either, so it should allow Gallen to bounce back and Kuhl to have another great outing. As the underdog and the home team, it’s the better play to go with the Rockies in this one while also taking the under (U11.5, -110).
