MLB Betting: Angels vs Yankees & Astros vs A’s – 05/31/2022

There are 16 games on the schedule for Tuesday, and there’s plenty of value available for bettors to take advantage of. This betting guide will offer some of the best value options for a pair of the American League’s best games on a busy day.

Los Angeles Angels (+110) vs New York Yankees (-135)

Noah Syndergaard returns to New York, only he’s not playing for the New York Mets, and he’s pitching against the Yankees. As good as he is, Syndergaard has been brutal on the road this season giving up a .304 batting average against and a dismal 5.93 ERA. The Angels are also in a rough patch, and Yankee Stadium usually isn’t the place to bounce out of it. Take the Yankees at a decent price (-135) here.

Jordan Montgomery gets the start for New York today, and that means the bullpen’s getting a workout. His last six starts have been a no-decision, and his ERA has been steadily rising over the last month. Add Montgomery’s recent struggles with Syndergaard’s struggles on the road and mix in two teams that can really hit, and this looks like a good chance for some runs. This line has ticked up a bit since it opened, but there is still some value in playing the over (O9, +100) in this spot.

Houston Astros (-135) vs Oakland A’s (+110)

The Astros dusted Oakland 5-1 in this series opener on Monday, and it was the fourth loss in the last five games for the A’s. Oakland has also been brutal at home, winning just four of its last 21 games there. Houston is going in the opposite direction and has won 13 of its last 16 against the American League West. Trust the team that’s succeeding right now, and take Houston with a solid number (-135) against a struggling team.

Frankie Montas has been solid on the mound for Oakland this season, even if the A’s have lost his last seven starts. He’s allowed just seven earned runs over his last five starts. Houston starter Cristian Javier has been great all season and has allowed more than one earned run just twice this season. The over/under number is low, but neither of these pitchers is giving up a lot right now. Lean towards playing the under (U7, -120).
