MLB Betting: Angels vs Orioles & Nationals vs Braves – 07/10/22

In today’s MLB betting guide, Los Angeles Angels aim to avoid a season series sweep against the Baltimore Orioles after losing seven of eight games to start the month. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Braves look to get closer to the New York Mets for the NL East lead as they host the Washington Nationals for the final match of a three-game series.

Los Angeles Angels (-118) vs Baltimore Orioles (+110)

After splitting a back-to-back against the Miami Marlins, the Angels find themselves in troubling waters as they are on the verge of a four-game sweep against the Orioles. They’re close to being a .500 team at home, but they’ve struggled on the road with an abysmal 18-29 record. José Suarez gets his eighth start of the year and is 1-2 on the season, with an ERA (earned run average) of 4.30. In his last three starts, Suarez has looked good, winning one and allowing three runs off 13 hits while striking out 19 batters.

The month started bleak for the Orioles with back-to-back losses against the Minnesota Twins, but they’ve since gone on a seven-game winning streak. They remain at the bottom of the AL East, but only because the division boasts four teams with at least 45 wins. Taking to the mound is Austin Voth, who is searching for his first win in five starts this year. His play improved over the last three games, despite allowing eight hits in his previous seven innings, but will it be enough? Lean towards Los Angeles, avoiding a second series sweep this month.

Washington Nationals (+184) vs Atlanta Braves (-220)

Losing eight of nine games this month, the Nationals are hoping to avoid a total disaster at the end of the week. They’ll face the Braves again next week after a back-to-back against the Seattle Mariners, making this game crucial for them to win. Paolo Espino gets his sixth start and is still searching for a win, starting the season with an 0-2 record and a 3.33 ERA. He’s been blown up for 17 hits and nine runs in his last three games, and that doesn’t look to change this afternoon.

The Braves can extend their winning streak to three games for a second time this month if they can take down the Nationals and earn the series sweep. They’ve done an excellent job closing the gap between themselves and the Mets while staking the claim on the second seed in the NL East. Ian Anderson eyes his second consecutive win when he takes the mound, hoping to put a disaster of a game against the Philadelphia Phillies last month when he was blasted for seven runs in two innings. Luckily, this is the Nationals he’s up against, and he shouldn’t have any issue earning the victory.
