CFL Betting: Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs BC Lions – 07/09/22

In tonight’s CFL action, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and BC Lions put their undefeated records on the line in a West Division showdown. A win for the Blue Bombers places them in first place with a 5-0 record, while the Lions could join the Saskatchewan Roughriders in third place if they improve to 4-1. With a lot riding on this game in a very competitive division, the two best defensive teams will attempt to keep each other at bay while scratching their way to victory.

Moneyline: Lions @ -175

Coming into tonight’s big game, the Blue Bombers’ 4-0 record may look good on paper, but their game against the Lions will be their first real test. Winnipeg has taken down the Ottawa Redblacks twice and both the Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tiger-Cats once. Each of those teams carries a losing record and is a combined 1-10 this season. They also have scored just 87 points, the lowest total in the West Division, despite playing against weaker opposition. Their defense will be tested tonight against a Lions team that loves to run the ball.

The Lions suffocating defense has been a large reason why the team has seen early success this year. They’ve also had the fortune of facing inferior opponents but have looked better at both ends of the ball when compared to Winnipeg. Kyrie Wilson joins Nic Demski on the injury list, and both players’ absence will be felt throughout the lineup, but the coaching staff is getting the best out of their lineup. Expect the Lions to continue their winning ways tonight and join the four-win club in the West.

Team Points 3-Way: Lions Over 27 (-120)

The offense from BC takes a backseat to their defensive brilliance, but one shouldn’t underestimate just how good they’ve looked this season. The Lions are the better team on paper in every statistical category, and their running backs should have an easy time rushing the ball down the field. Scoring 27 points feels too appealing and should be met while their defense has the potential to hold off the Blue Bombers to under that total.

Touchdown Scorers Anytime: Greg Ellingson @ +110

If there’s one player the Lions should look out for, it’s wide receiver Greg Ellingson. Since coming over from the Edmonton Elks, he’s doubled his total touchdown scores from last season and has rushed the ball for 268 yards. Ellingson has caught 16 of 21 attempts and is showing early signs of becoming one of the best at his position in the league. He’ll be up against a sturdier defense this time, so he’ll need to be more evasive with his approach. If the Blue Bombers get into the end zone tonight, the ball will be in the hands of Ellingson.
