CFL Betting: Week 2 CAL vs HAM & SAS vs EDM – 06/16/22

In this week’s CFL action, eight teams go head-to-head in Week 2 of the regular season. The Calgary Stampeders aim to go 2-0 when they take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Meanwhile, the Edmonton Elks hope to bounce back from a disappointing loss when they go head-to-head with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. This is the place to find everything, including team win odds, the over/under, and point spreads.

Moneyline: Stampeders @ -110

In a battle between two offensively-capable teams, the Stampeders will put their passing game up against the Tiger-Cats’ rushing plays in their Week 2 clash. Calgary squeaked out a Week 1 win against the Montreal Alouettes, coming back from behind, while Hamilton is coming off a lopsided loss to the Roughriders. Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell left the game against Montreal due to injury but said he’s feeling good during his media availability. Defensively, the addition of Trumaine Washington should aid with shutting down Hamilton’s offense.

The Stampeders are the better team defensively and should have an easy time handling the Tiger-Cats. Despite the loss, quarterback Dane Evans is confident his team can pull back into it with a win, but they’ll have to do so without defensive back Cariel Brooks. He was listed on the injury report for a second consecutive week after missing the opening game. Take Calgary’s defense to play a big role in earning the team its second win of the season.

CAL First Score Method: Touchdown (+330)

Completing Week 1 with 359 total yards earned, 256 yards came from passing plays, leading to Calgary’s surge in the second half of their game against Montreal. They can’t afford to get behind the eight-ball against an eager Hamilton team, so they’ll be motivated to put points on the board by storming down the field.

One must factor in Hamilton’s questionable defense, especially with the absence of Brooks. The Stampeders should have no issue throwing the ball into the endzone a few times, and we expect them to open up the game that way. If their passing plays don’t connect, their rushing game isn’t too bad, either. Take the +330 on a touchdown to be their first scoring play of the game.

Moneyline: Saskatchewan @ -110

This game should be a breeze for Saskatchewan, who crushed Hamilton in Week 1 with solid passing and excellent defense. The Elks are coming off a devastating 59-15 loss against the BC Lions, as their defense was punished and their offense failed to come up with an answer. Whether that’s what led them to trade Warren Fletcher to the Alouettes is up for debate, they certainly need to make some changes heading into Saturday’s contest. Take the easy route here and expect the Roughriders’ potent offense and steady defense to add to Edmonton’s woes.
