CFL Betting: Ottawa Redblacks vs Saskatchewan Roughriders – 07/08/22

In tonight’s CFL action, the Ottawa Redblacks continue their search for a win in the 2022 season as they hit the road for a visit to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. A victory tonight would put them in a tie with the Montreal Alouettes for second place in an extremely weak East Division. The Roughriders earned two points after doubling the Montreal Alouettes and could jump over the BC Lions with their fourth win tonight.

Moneyline: Roughriders @ -250

It’s going to be a massive three-week stretch for the Roughriders and could determine their fate in the West Division. Despite being 3-1 on the season, they remain behind three teams who are all undefeated to start the year. Saskatchewan plays the Redblacks tonight before engaging in a back-to-back against the 1-2 Toronto Argonauts. The Roughriders have the CFL’s best defense against rushing yards total while holding up the league’s second-best offense. Cody Fajardo looked better in last week’s match against the Alouettes, and he’ll aim to take advantage of the Redblacks struggling defensive team.

The Redblacks came into the 2022 season with playoff aspirations but going 0-3 has put doubt into their minds. It’s a shame considering they give up the third-least amount of points among any team in the league and have managed to keep each game close. Their defensive structure is allowing the most passing and rushing yards, something that may not reach improvements with three starting defensive backs and one coverage linebacker all out with injuries. Considering Ottawa’s inefficiency at reaching the red zone and Saskatchewan’s league-leading 21 sacks and 14 takeaways, this should be an easy outing for the Roughriders.

Total Points Parlay: Over 45.5 (-110)

The Redblacks’ record may not look appealing, but the scores in each loss suggest the games are closer than they appear. One win today could place them in second place in the East, despite opening up the year with three consecutive losses. Unfortunately, this is due to playing in a weak division consisting of four teams with losing records who all give up more points than they score. Tonight may not be as close as previous outings, as the Roughriders are good bets to put up a ton of offense and score at will while their defense holds Ottawa at bay. Take the over (O45.5, -110) and expect most of those points to come from Saskatchewan’s side.

Touchdown Scorers Anytime: Kian Schaffer-Baker @ +105

There is an opportunity to make some money with Saskatchewan’s offense, particularly with Fajardo and wide receiver Kian Schaffer-Baker. The 24-year-old is enjoying a monster season with 226 yards earned and two touchdowns in his first four games. Against the Redblacks defense, you can expect Farjedo to look for Schaffer-Baker all night to exploit that weakness. He’s caught 22 of 27 attempts and will have all the time and space to continue that hot streak.
