CFL Betting: CGY Stampeders vs WPG Blue Bombers – 07/15/22

In tonight’s CFL action, the Calgary Stampeders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers put their undefeated seasons on the line in a battle of the best of the West Division. Both teams are coming off massive Week 5 wins that saw them put up over 40 points, but only one can remain with a perfect record after tonight. The Stampeders and Blue Bombers are both top three in the league for offense and defense, leading up to one of the best matches of this season.

Moneyline: Blue Bombers @ -180

Entering tonight’s contest, the Stampeders have an opportunity to start a season 5-0 for just the eighth time in franchise history. In doing so, they join the Blue Bombers with five wins on the season and overtake them for the top spot in the West Division. They also have the chance to be the lone team with an undefeated record, but they’ll need to put the work in against a team that is equally as dominant at both ends of the field.

To convince the audience of how close this battle is between the two, both teams have captured the West Division title in four of the last five years while combining for the past three Grey Cup titles. They split the season series last year, with both teams winning at home, but Calgary has taken three of the past four games between the two clubs. We’re going with the home team tonight, but expect this game to be tight and the winner escaping by a maximum of a three-point margin.

Home Team Total Points: Under 47.5 @ -110

Winnipeg and Calgary have the potential to run up a score against a weaker defensive team, but the problem is neither of these two play poor defense. Winnipeg loves to run the ball, but against Calgary’s suffocating defensive line, it will be tough to penetrate the end zone. We’re expecting a lower-scoring game and closer to the 30-point plateau for both sides, so go with the under (U47.5, -110) for the home side.

Touchdown Scorers Anytime: Greg Ellingson @ -110

Playing for his fourth CFL team in nine years, Greg Ellingson isn’t guilty of not putting in the work to achieve positive results. In five games this season, he’s already surpassed his touchdown total from last season in half the amount of games played, and he’s been dominant all season. Catching 23 of 28 attempts for 366 yards, Ellingson will be a prime target for Calgary’s defense, but they’ll have a hard time locating him around the field if the game opens up. We don’t expect too many touchdown plays tonight, but if the Blue Bombers can earn some space, Ellingson is a good gamble.
