MLB Betting: Phillies vs Brewers & Rockies vs Giants – 06/08/2022

A full Wednesday of games features a bit of everything. The Colorado Rockies and San Francisco Giants continue to slug it out in the National League West, while the Philadelphia Phillies try to extend their winning streak to six games while taking on the Milwaukee Brewers. This betting guide offers insight into the best bets for both of those games based on recent trends.

Philadelphia Phillies (-125) vs Milwaukee Brewers (+105)

Philadelphia starter Aaron Nola has already beaten the Brewers once this season, allowing just one hit over seven scoreless innings on April 24. He’s been a bit erratic lately, though, giving up at least four earned runs in three of his last five starts. Milwaukee starter Adrian Houser has been sharp recently, giving up one run or less in three of his last four starts. This looks like a tight one, but lean toward the Brewers (+105) as a slight underdog with the most consistent starter of the last month.

These teams have played four times this season and the over has not hit in any of those games. The total has also gone under in Houser’s last two starts, and two of Nola’s last three. Expect that trend to continue. Take the under (U8, -105) once again in a battle of teams that have already had their share of low-scoring affairs this season.

Colorado Rockies (+180) vs San Francisco Giants (-225)

The Rockies snapped a four-game losing streak by downing the Giants 5-3 on Tuesday. These teams have played each other six times this season, with Colorado winning the last two after San Francisco took the first four. Giants pitcher Alex Wood has lost his last three starts, but the last two defeats were due in large part to no run support. Colorado starter Antonio Senzatela has been all over the place, as only one of his last three starts made it past the fourth. The Giants should bounce back big, so take the run line (-1.5, -110) for some added value.

These teams pushed on the total yesterday, and the over is 5-1-1 in their last eight matchups. Every time Senzatela has pitched this season – all eight starts – the over has hit comfortably. Wood hasn’t won a start since May 10, and there’s always a chance for him to be erratic out of the gate. This could be a recipe for some runs. Take the over (O8.5, -120) on this one with a pair of struggling pitchers going against each other.
