MLB Betting: Guardians vs Rangers & Twins vs Yankees – 06/08/22

In today’s MLB betting guide, the Cleveland Guardians and Texas Rangers finish up their series after a double-header, while the New York Yankees look to stay hot and on top of the league against the Minnesota Twins.

Cleveland Guardians (-165) vs Texas Rangers (+135)

The over/under in this game is set pretty low considering both teams’ starters haven’t exactly been perfect on the mound. The Guardians do have their ace Shane Bieber pitching but the defense behind him hasn’t done him many favors, while Dane Dunning of the Rangers has had the same support behind him. The pitching matchup is firmly in Cleveland’s corner, but other than just a couple of batters outside of Jose Ramirez, the bats could help back up the pitching performances a little more.

Marcus Semien of the Rangers has finally come out of his slump that lasted a bit too long to begin the season and he’ll be leading the offense heading into this one after a four-hit performance and a three-home run day. The three-game series is tied right now 1-1 as both teams have won by a score of 6-3, but with the Guardians playing better recently and a better team at home, I give the edge to them while the over/under is just too small to be confident in. Take the over (O7, -115) as well.

Minnesota Twins (+145) vs New York Yankees (-175)

These are not bad odds for the Yankees considering they are ranked first in MLB and have one of their excellent pitchers in Nestor Cortes starting the game. They have won seven games in a row, including yesterday’s game 10-4, while sporting an 8-2 record in the past 10 and a 17-8 record on the road this season. The Twins are a good team that has just been slumping recently, but their pitcher Chris Archer doesn’t make me confidently say the team can beat the Yankees right now.

Cortes has limited home runs hit against him and has a stellar ERA (earned run average) and WHIP (walks+hits per inning pitched), while Archer has been shielded by the defense of the Twins. He has an ERA of 3.89 but his FIP (fielding independent pitching) is 4.94, which his teammates have propped him up defensively. He gives up too many walks, which you can’t be doing against a powerhouse offense like the Yankees possess. Take the Yankees and over (O9, +100) considering they can carry the offense alone in the case of hitting the over.
