Defense has dominated the series between the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers, but high-scoring defensemen between these defensemen have been hard to come by. This betting guide will offer some options to get more value on the blue line when setting your daily fantasy lineup for Saturday’s Game 6.
Jaccob Slavin, Carolina Hurricanes
Jaccob Slavin is Carolina’s best defender, and there aren’t many people that are going to argue that. His name hasn’t found the scoresheet as much as it did in the first round, but Slavin has been able to put together a solid second round. His highest-scoring game of the series in daily fantasy came on the road, and he’s been a good option on the road throughout the postseason.
Three of Slavin’s five highest-scoring games in the postseason have come on the road, and one of those was Game 4 at Madison Square Garden. Slavin continues to get shots and blocked shots, and if he gets his scoring mojo back, that’s even more value at a bargain price. He will get enough minutes to pile up plenty of shots and blocks, and as low scoring as this series has been, that makes him a value play.
Ryan Lindgren, New York Rangers
Ryan Lindgren has been flying under the radar as a quality, low-salary option for daily fantasy since the second round began. He only has two points in the series, but his knack for racking up blocked shots and getting shots on goal has put his scoring output higher than many options with much higher salaries.
Lindgren is always around 20 minutes of ice time and has totaled 13 blocked shots in the series. Both of his assists have come at home – both coming in Game 4 – and his lone goal of the playoffs came at home in Game 5 of the first round against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Rangers have been better at Madison Square Garden this series, and Lindgren has a chance to put up another quality effort at home.
Adam Fox, New York Rangers
Adam Fox is still pricey, but he’s still a must-play. He has four points in the series, but they’ve all come in the last three games. Three of those points came while playing at home, which is good news with the series heading back to Madison Square Garden. He also has 12 blocks in the series, and six of those came in the two games at home.
With Fox’s reliability and the lack of high-scoring defensemen in daily fantasy, he’s worth his price. No one on the Rangers plays more minutes than Fox, as he’s averaging 26:58 per game in the playoffs. Only Mika Zibanejad has outscored Fox in the postseason on the Rangers roster, as well, and that’s only by a point. Take the hit on the salary and get him in your lineup.
